 Abstract:  Worthy McClintock was a soldier from Solon, Ohi,o who served in Company H of the 18th Infantry Regiment of the United States Army during the Civil War. He was stationed at Camp Thomas, Columbus, Ohio and saw duty in Tennessee, Alabama, and Kentucky from June 1862 through the summer of 1864. He fought in the Battle of Chattanooga and the Battle of Chickamauga and apparently died while in service sometime before November 1, 1864. The collection consists of approximately twenty-five pieces of correspondence primarily between Worthy and his parents (Joshua and Lucy), but also includes a few letters from family friends and other correspondents.

The collection consists of correspondence, receipts, legal documents and military muster rolls. The collection consists primarily of sporadic correspondence between Pinkerton family members in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Kentucky. Included are some American Civil War letters with comments on the Union army, camp conditions, and opinions of the war.

 Abstract:  The Anson F. Ashley family resided in Tallmadge, Ohio, where Anson F. Ashley was a farmer and tanner. In 1822 he built what is now known as the Myra Seward Pitkin House, named for hs granddaughter. Myra Seward's father served in the Civil War and later settled in Middlebury, Ohio. The George F. Avery family resided in Brecksville, Ohio, from 1841-1907. His grandson, William Avery, served in the 177th Ohio Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War. He married Rosaline Comstock in 1869, and operated a dairy farm in Brecksville. Nathaniel Gorgas served in the 104th Ohio Volunteer Infantry during the American Civil War. The collection consists of original documents, including an autograph album, a diary, and an account book, collected by a descendent of the Ashley, Avery, Gorgas, and Seward families of northeastern Ohio. Genealogy material, reminiscences, and correspondence have been transcribed and copied by the collector. Included are the Civil War letters of Nathaniel Gorgas to his parents, transcribed by the collector of these papers. A volume containing a diary and account book of Joseph Paul Suter is included, but the relationship of its writer to the family is unclear.

 Abstract:  Adelaide Rudolph (1858-1953) was a niece of President and Mrs. James A. Garfield who was a teacher and librarian at Columbia University. After her retirement, she worked on a history of Hiram, Ohio, at the Cleveland Public Library. Her father, Joseph Rudolph, was a soldier in Company A, 23rd Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, during the American Civil War. The collection consists of letters, a journal, genealogical data, and newspaper clippings of the Garfield and Rudolph families.

 Abstract:  The collection includes records of the Coffinberry and Morgan families and allied families of Hampson, Duane, DuBarry, and Chevalier. The collection consists of correspondence, journals, other manuscript materials, plats, maps, pamphlets, political broadsides, speeches, newspaper clippings, biographical and genealogical items, engravings, campaign ribbons, and other family memorabilia.
